TAEKWONDO COUPLE WIN 2017 NTF AWARDS
It was a case of double celebrations when one of Nigeria Taekwondo most popular couples, Mohammed and Ada Muhammed, both bagged NTF end of year awards at the 2017 NTF Merit Award Gala Night, which was held at the indoor gymnasium, national stadium Abuja.
Mohammed Anthony won the Best Referee of the year award, beating Emmanuel Ogu and Samuel Asigbe to the prestigious award while Ada Anthony emerged unchallenged as the Best Female Coach of the year, giving the tremendous work she has done with the Ondo state taekwondo team.
Reacting to her award, the highly rated female coach and former National champion, was thankful for the recognition for all the hard work she had put into bringing up new talents, and encouraged females to roll up their sleeves and actively contribute to the development of the sport.
“I just want to thank the Almighty God for His love and mercy upon my family. A big thanks to Nigeria Taekwondo Federation. To all females in Nigeria Taekwondo you’re wonderful, I love you all. The sky is our starting point.”
Mohammed Anthony was excited by the encouragement that the award would bring to the work he loves doing.
“It is certainly a good feeling when one is appreciated and recognized for doing well. This will ginger me to make even greater efforts to develop the sport of Taekwondo in Nigeria”
The NTF awards is a yearly event that seeks to recognize and reward persons within and outside of the Taekwondo community that have contributed immensely to the development of the sport. The inaugural edition awarded a total of 29 awards across eight categories – athlete, coach, referee, media, grassroots, humanitarian, patron and merit.
