… as Injury Rules Out Olowookere for WT President Cup Africa

African Silver Medalist, Chinazum Nwosu, won a Bronze medal at the just concluded African Taekwondo Championships, which came to a close today in Agadir, Morocco.

In the quarter-finals, the attack-minded Chinazum defeated Rwanda’s with superiority decision after their bout ended 3-3 in regular and extra time, before narrowly losing 11 – 12 in the semi-finals to the tournament’s number one seed and world 8th ranked, Tunisia’s Ben Ali.

AFTU Representative, Nigeria’s Jonathan Nnaji, stands with the medalists, which included Bronze Medalist, Nigeria’s Chinazum Nowsu in the Female -53kg category.

With the end of this G-4 tournament, Nigeria’s competitors will turn their eyes to gaining more experiences and medals at the G-2 ranked World Taekwondo President Cup, where other continents join Africa to compete for the top prize.

International debutant, Ifeoluwa Ajayi, and Commonwealth Champion, Isah Adamu Abubakar, will be both competing in the male -63kg category, while Chinazum Nwosu will again be competing the female -53kg category.

Commonwealth Gold Medalist, Shola Olowookere, who won a bronze at the just concluded African Taekwondo Championships, has been ruled out of the WT President Cup, due to a wrist injury sustained during his quarter-finals bout yesterday.

538 athletes from more than 58 countries spanning across Africa, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Europe, North America, and South America are registered to participate in the WT President’s Cup Africa.
